Raul Gutierrez Corral

Raul Corral was born in Miami, Ariz. on Oct. 14, 1931 to Gregorio Corral and Guadalupe Gutierrez Corral. He passed away on Jan. 8, 2014 in Mariposa with his family surrounding him.

Raul was raised in Ures,

Sonora, Mexico, from 2 years old to 17 years old when he returned to the United States to join his two brothers, Greg and Henry in Reno, Nev. Raul lived in Reno from 1949 to 1966 when he and his wife Marilyn Corral moved to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Raul and Marilyn lived in Hawaii until 1979 when Marilyn’s career with DHL Corporation brought them to Burlingame, Calif. They lived in the Bay Area until their move to Mariposa in 1990.

Raul is survived by a son, Franklin Raul Corral (Washington, D.C.), two daughters, Lisa Hoskinson (Coos Bay, Ore.) and Gina Wood Fenske ( Mariposa), a daughter-in-law Karen Fenske (Mariposa), grandson, Jason Gibbs (San Diego) and five granddaughters, Halie and Julia Wood (Mariposa), Amber, Tamara and Wynona Moldt (Coos Bay) and two great-grandsons, Alexander and Lovello (Coos Bay). A son, Daniel Mark Corral, preceded Raul in death.

At Raul’s request, no services will be held. The family enjoyed time together following Raul’s death viewing thousands of pictures and events that took place in Raul’s life, provoking lots of stories and laughter.

Raul will be missed by his family for his homemade chorizo and refried beans, his jokes and many stories of his life in Mexico. His grandchildren will especially miss his artwork, pictures always drawn in their birthday and Christmas cards.
