Charles F. Fleming, Jr.

Charles F. Fleming, Jr. was born in Topeka, KA on Nov 13,

1926, and he died Jan16, 2014 in Oakland, CA.

He was a resident of Mariposa for 16 years prior to his passing on Jan. 16, 2014 at 12:30 a.m. at his son’s home in Oakland, Calif.

He is now with his lovely bride, our mother, Louise G. Fleming, who has been waiting for him since she passed in September of 2008.

Chuck Fleming is survived by seven children, Michael Fleming, Patrick Fleming, Elizabeth Fleming, Kathleen Sirbu, Timothy Fleming, Mary Bakos, and John Fleming. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He realized his dream to have a home in Mariposa, that utilizes the earth for insulation. Next he cleared and planted two acres of grapevines for the “Fleming Vineyard,” which is now producing Cabernet, Zinfandel, Syrah, and Merlot grapes.

It was sad that after all this effort he was diagnosed with dementia in 2011, however, he was fortunate to spend the last two years of his life close to his children, experiencing their loving attention.

After a devoted life to his Catholic faith and his family, we pray that he is now in heaven in the loving arms of our mother. The service will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mariposa on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. with the internment in the gravesite immediately following.
