Rain, snow expected through the weekend

Multiple pulses of rain and snow are forecast to dampen the county over the coming weekend, the National Weather Service reports. As much as two feet of mountain snow could accumulate, although uncertainty remains over the precise totals.

A small amount of lower-elevation snow is possible with the first system on Thursday, Feb. 6.

"A more significant storm with potentially heavy snow will move over the mountains Friday afternoon through Saturday," the National Weather Service's Sacramento office said.

Forecasters see a chance of rain in Mariposa through the evening of Monday, Feb. 10.
