One man dies, woman seriously injured in Highway 140 head-on

Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 - 4:40 p.m. - One man died and an elderly woman was seriously injured in a head-on crash between two SUVs on Highway 140 at Grosjean Road late this afternoon.

First responders on scene felt the woman's survival chances were slim. From the appearance of the collision, both vehicles, which were completely destroyed, were probably traveling at the speed limit in a turn on the highway.

Look for further details as they are released.

In my opinion, this was done in very bad taste. I understand the media's need or demand to get the information to the public as quickly as possible, but a picture of the crash......really? What if the family or friends of the family opened their FaceBook page upon getting home from work, only to recognize the vehicle in the photo? One should not learn of a tragic loss via an online photo posted by the local newspaper. Sad and very disappointing.......
