DeJoria is tapped for county fire chief

Leonard "Len" DeJoria, lately of the Prescott (Arizona) Fire Department, has been selected as the Mariposa County Fire Department's new chief.

DeJoria has close to 20 years of professional firefighting experience in several Western states, county chief administrative officer Rick Benson said in a statement.

"Mr. DeJoria will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the County’s Volunteer Fire Department which includes volunteer recruitment and training, Fire Marshall duties and emergency planning," the county announcement continued. "Formal appointment by the Board is expected in early February and the new Chief will begin his duties by March 1. He succeeds Chief Jim Wilson who retired at the end of 2013."
