Aunt and niece witness meteor

Margie Boiler of Grojean Road was driving niece Hannah McCarthy, 8, to school on Monday when the pair witnessed a bright, daylight meteor over Mariposa.

"It looked like it was flying over town, from east to west," Boiler said. "It flew faster than any airplane."

The sighting occured around 8:28 a.m.

The Mariposa Elementary School student was "so excited," and rushed to tell her classmates of the incident.
