Arlin George

“This is where the cowboy rides away.....”

Arlin R. George, a resident of Hornitos, passed away Oct. 19, 2013 in Merced. He was born Nov. 19, 1932 in Monroe, Washington.

Arlin attended schools in Merced and graduated from Merced High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy Oct. 2, 1952 and was honorable discharged Oct. 10, 1956.

Always a Cowboy, he returned and went to work at Bellevue Ranch.

Arlin met the love of his life Elnora in November 1956. They were united in marriage July 20, 1957 in Reno, Nevada with all their family present.

Arlin and Elnora raised two beautiful daughters, Linda and Chris.

Arlin loved being a cowboy, he enjoyed hauling cattle from ranch to ranch. Some of his hobbies included team roping, he was an excellent leather craftsman. Arlin just loved ranching and settled at his family ranch till this day.

His true passion was the love he had for his family. Family always came first. His grandson, son-in-law and all his boys he loved dearly.

Arlin is survived by his loving wife, Elnora George; his daughter, Linda Borba and husband, Tom and children, Beth, Shannon and Katie; his daughter, Chris Bettencourt and children Nicole and Trevor. He is further survived by 11 great grandchildren.

Through your memory will eternally and forevermore live in our hearts. Happy Trails, Till we meet again…We Love You, "Ditto."

A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct.25, 2013 at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 901 W. Main Street in Merced. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at Hornitos Cemetery in Hornitos.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mariposa County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund in Mariposa, California.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced.
