Monday storm lashes with thunder, hail, rain

Monday's storm rumbled over Mariposa with lightning, thunder, hail, rain and snow.

With precipitation totals of a little over an inch to less than half an inch, the storm won't end the region's drought, however.

An amateur gauge at Midpines recorded 1.12 inches. Another guage at Lushmeadows totaled just .5 inches.

Weatherwatcher Henry Falany of Ashworth Road said his gauge filled with just .4 inches of water during the storm. Falany, pastor of Mariposa Revival Center with wife Grace, said he got an eyeful driving near the Mariposa Yosemite Airport on Monday afternoon, however.

“A cell came through and turned the highway white with hail and slush,” he said.

Read this Thursday's MARIPOSA GAZETTE for more on Monday's storm.
