James Allen (Diaz) nabbed by deputies

Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, 10:40 a.m. - On Tuesday Oct. 15 at approximately 8 p.m., the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a call regarding threats occurring at in the 5000 block of Chowchilla Mountain Road. The victim being fearful for his safety, armed himself with a firearm and locked himself in the bathroom after being threatened by James Allen and Justin Bolton.

Deputies responding to the call had information that James Allen had a valid felony warrant issued by the Mariposa County Superior Court issued by the Honorable Judge Dana Walton for violation of California Penal Code 245(a) (1) assault with a deadly weapon, and bail set at $50,000. (Authorities believe Allen was involved with a stabbing incident near the Bootjack Market and Deli last month.)

Deputies arrived at the residence, announced themselves at the front door, when a female subject exited from the back door where she was contacted by deputies. She informed the deputies that Allen was in the residence.

Given the circumstances and information, entry was made into the residence through the back door. Another female subject was contacted in the residence and removed. A locked door was located inside the residence. Deputie announced themselves, after no response the door was kicked open.

Allen was contacted in the room at gun point and surrendered without incident. A third female subject was also located in this room and removed too. Deputies later found the victim locked in a bathroom at residence. The victim was uninjured.

Allen was later booked in the Mariposa County Adult Detention Facility without incident for the warrant; citing violation of California Penal Code 245 (A)(1) assault with a deadly weapon. Charges of threats are being reviewed by the Mariposa County District Attorney’s Office.
