Larry Lee Mayes

Larry Lee Mayes, born on Nov. 11, 1946 in Alhambra, lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 20, 2013 at age 66. Larry spent most of his life in Mariposa, Yosemite, Ahwahnee and surrounding areas.

Larry loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a painter, softball player, musician, derby car driver, gambler and, most importantly, a loving husband to wife Carla for 43 years, loving father, “Papa,” brother and best friend to many.

Larry leaves behind his wife, Carla; children Little Larry, Joanna and Danny; brothers, Buddy & Ray Thatcher; sisters, Kathie Tate and Sherrie Forrest; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and an “a- Mayes-ing” extended family—too many to name here.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Bud Thatcher and his mother Adrienne Thatcher.

A potluck celebration of life will be held at the Mariposa VFW Hall on Friday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to come and share in remembering, laughing, and celebrating the life of an incredibly loved and loving man.
