Darlene (Day) Madewell

Dalene (Day) Madewell went to be with the Lord on Aug. 8, 2013, while in the presence of family and friends.

Day was born Feb. 7, 1956 to Dale and Ruth Nicholes in Englewood, CA (Humboldt County).

She leaves behind her loving husband of 30 years, Stan Madewell; their daughter, Nicole Madewell, and her three sons, Lucas, Aaron and Taylor; her stepson, Cody Retermund, his wife Mary, and their children Hayden and Cloe. Day had two special adopted daughters, Michelle Biehawicz and her daughters Victoria and Alexandria; and Desire Harrell and her children Zac and Ashlee. She also leaves behind a brother, Donny, and sister, Judy, along with their spouses and children. Day had many brothers and sister-in-laws and very close friends as well.

She was very well respected and loved in the community. Everyone that met her admired her compassion, generosity, consideration of others and her love of life.

Day was a formerly a co-owner of Affordable Auto Repair, Auto Emporium and The Sportsmen’s Den. She was general manager of The Sportsmen's Den in Oakhurst at the time of her passing. Day was an NRA Chief Range Master and Firearms Instructor. She had many clients who adored her and instantly became her friend.

The family would like to thank Sierra Pines Church for its support and the meals provided during Day's fight with cancer. A memorial service and celebration of Day's life will be held on Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at Sierra Pines Church on Highway 49 in Oakhurst. The entire mountain community is welcome to join in a celebration of this remarkable woman.

Again, the family would like to thank everyone for your love and support through these trying times. Mr. Madewell also offered a special thanks for Tricia Louise Tracy for the special massage treatments she provided for his wife.
