Weather system brings lightning concerns

A low-pressure system passing over the area through Wednesday will bring the chance of rain, lightning and lightning-sparked fires, the National Weather Service said on Monday.

"Some of the thunderstorms may become strong or even severe with frequent lightning and gusty winds and hail," Monday's forecast said.

Yosemite fire team spokesperson J. Wuchner asked visitors and residents to stay "vigilent and report any new fires as soon as possible."

Anyone who spots a blaze should dial 911 immediately.
