John Timothy Meagher

John Timothy Meagher peaceful and unexpectedly passed away on July 9 at the age of 69.

Tim was born April 29, 1944 to June and John “Tuck” Meagher. Known by most as “The Wire,” Tim was an avid gun collector who loved the outdoors and hunting.

He was proud to be a Vietnam veteran, serving as a helicopter gunner for the Air Force. He thoroughly enjoyed working and playing hard. A construction surveyor inspector by trade, he traveled all over the United States before settling in Jamestown to work for the City and County of San Francisco. Like his father before him, his happiest days were working on the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir system.

Tim is survived by his father, John “Tuck” Meagher of Mariposa, his wife, Sandi Meagher of Jamestown, daughter, Amber Chambers of Mariposa, stepdaughters, Bonnie Kolpack of Sonora and Deena Morton of Arizona, grandchildren, Alexis, Samantha, Bradley, Nicole, Hank and Christian and countless friends.

He was proceeded in death by his mother June Meagher and brother Terrence Patrick Meagher.

Tim will be dearly missed by all who knew him and the “gin mills” he visited will never be the same.

Military services were held in Sonora on July 13. A local memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mariposa with a gathering at the Mariposa Fairgrounds to follow.
