By Dan Tucker, Gazette Publisher

Friday, July 5, 2013  2 p.m. -- According to the California Highway Patrol, construction delays for road work on Highway 49 South will begin at 7 a.m. Tuesday (July 9).

Cal Trans crews will be applying a "fog seal" to the highway from Tuesday though Friday, July 12. The highway will be subject to what CHP Officer Becky Hagen called "a rolling closure," which can cause traffic delays of up to 40 minutes.

The road work will begin Tuesday at the Mariposa-Madera County line and will progress to Bootjack by Friday. The highway will be subject to delays from 7 a.m. to approximately 4 or 5 p.m. over those four days.

Residents traveling that highway are urged to use caution in the work zone.
