NASA has released an image of this week's Carstens Fire taken from Earth orbit by the Terra satellite. Taken on Monday, June 17, the photo shows a smoke plume spreading from northwest to southeast.

The red outline placed on the photo indicates hot spots detected by the satellite.

More recent views show the smoke plume traveling from west to east. Users can browse satellite imagry at NASA's http://earthdata.nasa.gov Web site.
