Shirley Calhoun

Shirley Calhoun, a 20-year resident of Mariposa, passed away peacefully at home on May 13. She was 57.

Mrs. Calhoun was born in San Francisco on May 18, 1958. She enjoyed rock concerts, hiking, going to the ocean, hanging out with friends and family and was always ready for a spontaneous adventure.

She is survived by her husband, John Calhoun; son and daughter-inlaw, Garrick and Julie Matlock of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Melissa Matlock of North Fork; step-son and his wife, Adrianne and Amber Perez of Mariposa; mother, Jean Smith of Clovis; siblings, Mark and Christine; grandchildren, Makela, Tyler, Kalena, Tillie and Liam; and her best friend of 35 years, Debbie Hicks. She will be deeply missed by the Hicks and Millard families and by her many friends.

A celebration of her life is being planned for June. Details will be announced at a later date.

Shirley you will forever be missed but never forgotten. You were such a wonderful person with a heart of gold, you were like a mom to me you took me in and took care of me when I needed it I am greatly appreciative of that. I love you and miss you so much mom.
