Headed for high school

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

Nearly 100 eighth grade students are headed for high school after Tuesday night's promotion ceremony.

The ceremony marked the first since Mariposa Middle School closed. It was a joint effort between Mariposa and Woodland Elementary Schools. Principals Monica Fieldsted and Jarod Pierce officiated the promotion.

Student body presidents from MES (Nathan Vereschagin and Chad Coffman) and Woodland (Julia Coleman) addressed the crowd and fellow students in the Gold Bowl before the class was announced as the Mariposa County High School graduating class of 2017.
