Gregory Porter

Mariposa resident Gregory Allen Porter passed away May 14 from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. Greg was born on Feb. 24, 1974, in Lakewood.

Greg moved to Mariposa to be closer to his father and to start his new life in Mariposa. Greg was not only a remarkable son, but a best friend for his dad, sharing their love for fishing, exploring historical sites and travel. Greg worked construction and maintenance jobs in the area and was always ready to help friends and relatives with work on their homes and properties.

Greg had many friends who were always greeted with a warm smile and a happy attitude. Greg's love of family, and his love of God, helped him to be a great young man that family and his community could be proud of. Greg was a member of the Coulterville Odd Fellows Lodge and was always willing to volunteer for other projects when he could.

Greg is survived by his father and stepmother, Gary and Marie Porter of Mariposa; his mother, Joyce Smith of San Jacinto; his son, Jonathan Porter of Hemet, who he was so proud of; and his sister, Christina McClean of Hemet. Greg also leaves numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will dearly miss his beautiful smile and loving attitude.
