Bus spills luggage over Highway 140

An open storage bin door spilled a busload of luggage across Highway 140 at Grosjean Road on Friday morning. Passersby helped clear the road, and no damage or injuries were reported.

The 7:45 a.m. incident briefly blocked the highway to traffic.

Passerby Matthew Christiani, who runs a landscape maintenance business, hopped out of his pickup truck to help clear the highway. A minute later, Yosemite tourists emerged from the big white bus to retrieve their belongings.

"I saw this happen once before to a YARTS bus," Christiani said as he hauled baggage from highway's westbound lane.

The bus was operated by Jinsheng Express LLC of Monterey Park.
