Wawona prescribed burn continues

A 150-acre area of wildland-urban interface continues in a controlled burn near Wawona this week. The project goal is to remove fuel and avoid catastrophic wildfire.

Yosemite firefighters were joined by crews from Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Sierra National Forest, North Lake Tahoe and Point Reyes National National Seashore for joint operations in igniting and managing the blaze.

The fire is expected to "burn down" over the next week or two, the Park said in a statement.
