Wind gusts exceed 40 mph

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

Tuesday afternoon's brief storm blew in and out rather quickly, but its force was fierce.

Wind, rain and even some snow were reported at various areas of Mariposa County. The National Weather Service (NWS) clocked winds at 42 miles per hour in Cathey's Valley at 5:27 p.m. on Tuesday.

Yosemite Valley had some snow earlier in the afternoon, as did the Lushmeadows and Jerseydale areas.

The NWS is predicting a much calmer and warmer weekend, with temperatures reaching into the 80s.
