Injuries minor in Tuesday vehicle accident

Two drivers, a passenger and one Caltrans contractor engaged in erosion-control work were injured in  Tuesday's accident on Highway 49 at Ashworth Road.

The accident occured when Mary Conway of Mariposa attempted a left turn from Ashworth onto Highway 49's northbound lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, she failed to yield the right-of-way to to a Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota tried to avoid Conway's Hyundai, but was unsucessful. 

The inpact sent the Toyota into a roll toward Caltrans contractor Carl McCutheon. The worker attempted to run from the careening vehicle, but was soon struct by it.

Conway, 77, sustained minor injuries and declined transport for medical care. The female passenger of the Toyota was not wearing a seat belt. She was transported via ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with minor injuries.

McCutheon's injuries were characterized as moderate by the CHP, but he declined emergency medical transport.

Local rule here when i was a

Local rule here when i was a kid was if you can see another car DONT PULL OUT. I still follow this rule and have never had to wait more than 80 seconds.

The driver on 49 probably

The driver on 49 probably sped up when she saw the car coming out of Ashworth. locals do that A LOT! It is most likely THAT driver's fault.
