School board changes meeting time

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

The Mariposa County Unified School District Board of Trustees has changed the time for its March 13 special meeting.

The meeting was scheduled immediately following the March 5 session. The board had originally announced that the March 13 meeting would be at 6:30 p.m.

MCUSD Superintendent Aaron Rosander announced today that the time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate board members' schedules.

At this same meeting staff will present its second interim budget report which must be submitted to the California Department of Education by March 15.

This report will be created without the layoffs and will include current budget assumptions. Those attending will be able to see the effect that no layoffs will have on the district's fiscal status for this year and two years out.

The board may also consider the resolution to layoff 17 teachers, which failed on March 5. Only three board members were in attendance that night, and the vote was 2-1 in favor of the layoffs. In order to pass, the resolution needed three affirmative votes because the board is made up of five members.
