Winter storm watch put in place

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

Today may be sunny and warm, but by early tomorrow morning, a winter storm is expected to change that drastically.

Rain is expected to begin in the overnight hours, and snow levels will drop rapidly.  Heavy rain is expected on Tuesday, and snow levels could be below 2,500 feet by Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Mariposa/Yosemite area beginning at 4 a.m. on Tuesday and lasting until 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

More rain and snow are expected later in the week and possibly over the weekend.

Any updates, including school delays or closures because of weather, will be posted at www.mariposagazette.com.
