Four children injured in school bus crash

Late Tuesday afternoon, emergency personnel responded to a traffic accident in Greeley Hill that involved a school bus.

Few details are currently available, but the bus contained 17 children and four sustained minor injuries and the driver was also injured. This information was provided by the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office.

The bus rolled over on its side on the slick roadways, but none of the injuries reportedly are life threatending.

I have talked to a couple

I have talked to a couple victims of this crash and it is plain that the driver was speeding, kept on speeding after being told to slow down.

I happen to know the bus

I happen to know the bus driver personally and am outraged at the way he is being portrayed! He is an excellent driver and would never in any way endanger a child. Things happen on slick roads and I know this man would give his life for every child entrusted to his care. Have you never gotten in a position where things went wrong and you slid in the snow and or ice? Do not condemn my friend when you don't know all the facts! Willa Morgan

My husband and I were in a

My husband and I were in a very similar situation on Highway 41 in Yosemite just above Wawona Tunnel. We couldn't put on chains because at that level the snow was just at the melting point - all slush and ice on the road. Chains only work when there is a snowpack of at least 6 inches (for those who don't know) How this could have happened was the snow storm came on suddenly and snow was unexpected at this altitude, plus it was melting the moment it hit the ground for 30 minutes before it started to build up. The road had not been plowed or changed to "Chains required" until more snow had built up on the road. The road was very dry from lack of rain until this storm. Please do not blame the bus driver for this - there was not a lot anyone could do in these conditions except pull over and wait, but buses have to keep their schedule, remember! Many of you have been in a situation where you had to do your job and had no power or authority to make a judgement call, please offer the same forgiveness to this bus driver!

I bet they felt life

I bet they felt life threatening. And they were miserably cold. School buses still don't have half the safety equipment they require in cars. Not even seat belts.

A few weeks ago while

A few weeks ago while visiting with some old friends their daughter told me about her daily horrifying bus ride, and the maniacal driver who takes her. She didn't state a name, but I don't believe in coincidences. I thank GOD for having His hand upon these children. Amen.

Bet that bus driver was

Bet that bus driver was fired!

Glad no one was hurt! Thank

Glad no one was hurt! Thank god those trees were there to stop them or else it would have kept rolling.

Trying to get to Greeley Hill

Trying to get to Greeley Hill last night around 4:30pm, the roads were so bad I had to turn around. It was not safe to drive.

Very happy there were no

Very happy there were no major injuries.

How could this happen? There

How could this happen? There should be procedures for heavy snow travel from Mariposa to Coulterville.

I know this man personally

I know this man personally and there is no way he would ever endanger a child! He is not a careless driver nor uncaring about his charges. Have you never slid or gotten stuck on a bad road? It has happened to all of us that have ever driven on our roads in bad weather. Don't condemn my friend without knowing all the facts.
