Jewel Kitchen

Jewel Kitchen passed away on Friday, Feb. 1 at her home with her husband of 70 years by her side.

Jewel was born in Lamar, Ark. on June 17, 1924, to William and Ellen Cunningham. She had two sisters, Mae Flud and Ruby Harris Monroe; and one brother, Davey Cunningham. She moved to California after World War II to raise a family. She had four children: Joan Burns Murgatroyd Harry (John), Stephen Kitchen (Polly), Marina Fisher (Ronnie) and Judy Burgoyne Jones (Ron).

Jewel was a life-long homemaker. She loved to paint and make quilts. She was a member of the Ponderosa Basin Chapel and a 23-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jewel has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren, who will all miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen; her brother, Davey Cunningham; her sister, Mae; her daughter, Joan Burns Murgatroyd Harry; and her husband, John; and two grandchildren, Michael Burns and Angie Burns.

Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Bakersfield where she lived
