The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office and Merced Bomb Squad are currently at a home on Tip Top Road to detonate some old dynamite.
Authorities responded after the home owner contacted them this morning. Arlene Boyer and her children were cleaning out a garage on Sunday when they found four sticks of dynamite in an old freezer.
Boyer called the sheriff's office this morning, and the response ensued from there. At this moment, Boyer is watching the Merced Bomb Squad's robot work in her garage to remove the dynamite. According to her, it will be moved to another location on the property where it can be safely detonated.
The sheriff's office has issued a Code Red alert to residents in the area who may hear the explosion.
