Fifth robbery suspect booked in Mariposa

The fifth suspect in the robbery of the California State Mining and Mineral Museum is now in custody at the Mariposa County Jail.

According to the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office, Michael Anthony Gomes, 43, of Citrus Heights, was booked late Tuesday, Jan. 22. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Gomes is charged with attempted robbery, second degree robbery, terrorist threats, conspiracy and vandalism. All the charges are felonies.

The four other suspects in the case have been in custody for some time. Their preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 25.
