CHP nabs fifth robbery suspect

The California Highway Patrol has arrested a fifth man in connection with the Sept. 28, 2012, robbery of the California State Mining and Mineral Museum in Mariposa.

According to CHP Officer Adrian Perez, investigators served a search warrant at a home in Citrus Heights early this morning. The search led to the arrest of Michael Anthony Gomes, 43.

Gomes will be extradited to Mariposa and booked into the Mariposa County Jail on charges of robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and vandalism.

The four men already arrested for the crime are in custody and awaiting preliminary hearing.
