James ‘Tuck’ Deshaies

James "Tuck" Deshaies was born July 6, 1938, in Santa Cruz, and died Dec. 23, 2012, at his home in Groveland at the age of 74.

He is the son of Al and Helen Deshaies. They raised him in Oakland, Livermore then Mariposa where he attended Mariposa County High School and graduated in 1957.

Mr. Deshaies was a member of the Operating Engineers for 50 years and was employed by the City and County of San Francisco for 35 years. In his youth he raced motorcycles, stock cars and boats. He was an avid outdoorsman, camping, fishing and hunting. He was a also a member of the NRA and Elk Foundation. He loved visiting with his many friends and especially loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Drummond.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marie Deshaies; and five children, Yvette Deshaies, Rebecca Deshaies, Al and Megan Deshaies, Larry and Suzanne Moore, and Bill and Amy Rozak; eight grandchildren, Jessie Booth, Mitchell Osborn, Leza Price, Van Carpenter, Randy Heath, Courtney Deshaies, Jay Repetto and Renee Beckett; and six greatgrandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 12, at noon. The location will be announced. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home of Sonora is handling arrangements.
