The brisk, sunny days of early January will give way to a chance of rain and snow in Mariposa County this weekend .

The National Weather Service (NWS) says a trough of low pressure is expected to move through the area Saturday night and Sunday. It is a relatively weak system compared to recent storms, however, up to a half an inch of rain and about four inches of snow could fall.

Snow levels are expected to be between 3,000 and 4,000 feet.
