Crash victim identified

Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 - 9:50 a.m. - According to the California Highway Patrol the 25-year old male victim of a fatal automobile crash in the Merced River Canyon early Sunday morning was Juan Hernandez-Montalvo of Midpines.

The CHP also reports that the accident apparently occurred around 15 minutes after midnight on Sunday morning. Hernandez-Montalvo lost control of his vehicle and plunged 30-feet down a rocky embankment before striking an oak tree just west of Cedar Lodge on Highway 140.
