Rex Glen Fleming, Jr.

Rex Glen Fleming, Jr. passed away at his daughter’s home, as he wished, on Thanksgiving day. Rex was born on July 4, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kan., and moved to the Southern California area in the 1950’s with his family.

He proudly served in the

United States Navy as a medic from 1956 to 1960. He worked in the construction trade for many years after his honorable discharge from the Navy.

Throughout his life, he helped many people, and was generous beyond words. There was not a stray animal that came to his door that he would not take in and care for with love. His two adopted guinea hens will miss him greatly. He often did without, to take care of his family or anyone who was in need. He was loved so much and will be greatly missed by many people.

He is survived by his mother, Elenora D. Fleming of Mariposa; a daughter, Tammi Hauhuth (Alfred) of Merced; granddaughters, Tara Leal (Marco) of Merced and Natalie Mejia of Merced; a grandson, Bradley Hauhuth of Merced; great-granddaughter, Mia Grace Leal of Merced; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his father, Rex G. Fleming Sr.; a brother, Tex A. Fleming; a sister, Bonita M. Ellis; and a great-niece, Tiffany D Troie.

A viewing was held at Whitton Family Funeral Service on Monday, Dec. 3. A graveside service with Military Honors provided the California State Honor Guard was held on Dec. 4 at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella.

“I would like to thank my husband for his constant support and help, and my children for always being there to help when it was needed, and Ascera Care Hospice for their excellent care and compassion,” said Tammi Hauhuth, daughter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Whitton Family Funeral Service in Merced.
