Sheriff IDs murder victim

The man found dead at a Midpines home on Saturday night has been identified.

Deputies responded to the Rancheria Creek home shortly after 9 p.m. because of a disturbance. There, they found one man dead and arrested Jeffery L. Clark, 51, for his murder.

The decesaed has been identified to be Gordon R. Crisp, 43, of Midpines.  Crisp was a tenant in the residence in which he was found. 


Mariposa County Sheriff Doug Binnewies said an autopsy is expected to be completed tomorrow.


Clark remains in custody at the Mariposa County Jail facing a single count of murder. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Why does the expense of an

Why does the expense of an autopsy have to be incurred,in the case of a gunshot wound.Can't the gunshot wound be assumed to be the cause of death? I'm just sayin'!

In a way I agree with you, but I am assuming the autopsy is to determine the amount of drugs and alcohol the victim had in his system. This is most likely a large factor in Mr. Clarks defense case.
