Christmas parade will go on Saturday--rain or no

The Mariposa Merry Mountain Christmas Parade happens this Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. in downtown Mariposa. The parade starts at Coakley Circle and continues to Third Avenue.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are forecast for Saturday evening.

Santa will be at Pioneer Village, next to Mariposa Shipping at the intersection of Hwy 140 and 49 South, for several hours prior to and then again immediately after the parade to meet children and pose for photos. Free books and candy canes will be given to children that visit Santa, compliments of Sierra Tel Family of Businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.

Some of this year’s entries include: The Chamber’s Trolley, an antique fire truck, floats from Relay for Life, Mariposa Martial Arts Academy and Mariposa County Friday Night Live Club. Our famed Mariposa High School Grizzly Band will also be in the parade plus, a Honda Gold Wing Trike, various cars, trucks, fire engines (including an antique one), and walking groups from the Butterfly Dance Studio and John C Fremont Healthcare District.

The downtown merchants will be decorated and have music, food, art, and good cheer for everyone watching the parade.  The Christmas Tree Lot hosted by Boy Scouts will be open as well. So dress warmly and come prepared for a jolly good time with all of us here in Mariposa.

Following Saturday's Open

Following Saturday's Open House at Perfect Skin from 2-5, I'm excited about seeing Mariposa's Merry Mountain Christmas parade from the front porch of Carisio Chiropractic. It's great being part of this beautiful mountain home community getting together and celebrating Jesus' birth.
