Museum suspects head to court

In just minutes, the four men suspected of robbing the California State Mining and Mineral Museum will make their first appearance in Mariposa County Superior Court.

Matthew Campbell, Jonathan Matis, Edward Rushing III and Christopher Sheffield will face a multitude of charges related to the Sept. 28 heist of the state's mineral exhibit.

They were arrested late last Tuesday and booked into the Mariposa County Jail on Nov. 14. Each is being held on $1 million bail.

Gazette staff will be at the hearing. An update will be posted at the conclusion of the hearing.
