Veterans Day is observed in county

Veterans Day is being observed on Monday, with local schools, county offices, libraries and post offices closed. The holiday commemorates the end of Wold War I, which concluded on Nov. 11, 1918.

Banks and financial institutions are also traditionally when the holiday is observed.

Mariposa held its traditional Veterans' Day commemoration ceremony on Thurday, Nov. 8 at Mariposa Elementary School. Local county officials attended along with representatives from state and federal government. 

Attendees gave special attention to county veterans who served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan and other conflicts.
