Four arrests made in museum heist

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 5:40 p.m. -- With the assistance of the Mariposa County Sheriff's Department, Placer County Sheriff's Department, Sacramento Police Department and the California Department of Corrections,  CHP investigators arrested three suspects believed responsible for the September robbery of the California State Mining and Mineral Museum in Mariposa.

Under arrest are Edward Rushing III, 40, from El Dorado County, who was arrested for multiple felonies including drug charges and is believed to be a conspirator in the Mariposa heist; Matthew Campbell, 43, from Sutter County, arrested for conspiracy  to commit robbery; and the third suspect, Jonathan Matis, 41, also from Sutter County, who was arrested for conspiracy to commit roberry, armed robbery, vehicle theft and vandalism.

Arrested after the first three, the fourth suspect in custody is Christopher Sheffield, 42.

The first three have been linked to other crimes in Sacramento and Placer Counties.

According to official sources, all four will be transported to Mariposa County for prosecution.

It was actually the Highway Patrol that investigated the incident and caught them!

Could not agree with you more, Troy -- these boys (provided they ARE "these" boys) tangled with the wrong museum, the wrong county and especially: the wrong sheriff. Can't tell you how happy I am that there's a good shot that the perps have been captured. And if it IS them: that they WILL pay --
