Chowchilla Mtn. Road closes

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

Chowchilla Mountain Road has closed for the winter, according to the National Park Service.

Due to recent weather and road conditions, the Chowchilla Mountain Road will be closed and inaccessible for the season from the park boundary to the Wawona Golf Course. The closure is in effect as of Thursday morning, Nov. 15.

The road is a popular summertime trek, but can be treacherous in the winter. On the Mariposa County side of the road, public works crews do not maintain the road in winter.
