William ‘Bill’ Loucks

On Oct. 20, William “Bill” Loucks passed away in his home. Born in Ohio, Bill raised his family in Greeley Hill and Las Vegas, Nev., and spent his retirement years living in Oregon, Arizon, Nevada and finally, Mered.

After 20 years as a school bus driver and driver instructor, Bill retired from the Mariposa County Unified School District. Bill also served nine years in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was a sheriff’s reserve deputy for Mariposa County.

Bill could often be found golfing with his friends, fishing on his boat, and playing poker. An avid family man, Bill was proudly responsible for the first fishing experiences of his children and grandchildren. With his wife by his side, Bill traveled America by RV for 10 years, fulfilling his life-long dream. His abundant love for his family brought him back to the West Coast permanently, where he spent his remaining years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Delcie Loucks; and their children, Anita Edmonson and husband Bob, J.B. Smith and wife Cheryl, Charlie Loucks and wife Kathy, Dennis Loucks, Jeff Loucks and wife Margaret, Bill Loucks Jr. and wife Sherry, and Beth Trenchard, along with 18 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father, Williams Earl Loucks; mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Loucks; and brother, Jerry Loucks.

Per Bill’s request, friends and family gathered to celebrate his life at his home on Oct. 27.
