Warm temps poised to abandon Central California

Mariposa's temperatures are expected to drop out of the 90s this week. By early next week, unseasonably cool temperatures are forecast. A few showers are even possible on Tuesday.

The cool-down comes on the heels of one of the hottest summers on record--according to the National Weather Service.

Also this week, climate scientists looking ahead to the coming precipitation season said that a weak to moderate El Nino may bring Central California higher-than-normal winter snowfall and precipitation.
