C. William ‘Bill’ Peters

C. William “Bill” Peters passed away Aug. 1 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno. Bill was born in Westchester County, NY, on Nov. 24, 1929.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; and their five sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Diane Peters and their children, Justin and Brandon; Michael and Alla Peters, his daughter, Riley, and her daughter, Bella; Russell and Merrie Peters, their children, Samantha Stone and Saige; Wayne and Margaret Peters, their son, Chase, and her daughter, Loreal; and Gregory and Shelly Peters, their children, Avery and Brooklyn. Bill is also survived by his sister, Carol Kuhn and her family; and his brother, Bob Peters and his family.

After active service in the United States Army during the Korean War, Bill pursued his career in the financial industry, working in New Mexico, Colorado and Nebraska before settling in Huntington Beach, until his retirement in 1990, when he and Barbara moved to Mariposa.

Since arriving in Mariposa, Bill has been an active volunteer in SCOPE, as well as a driver for the Veterans’ Administration hospital. He was an active member of the local VFW Post and a member of the Bootjack Stompers square dance club. He was always ready to help when needed, and his loss to so many friends is immeasurable.

A memorial service by the VFW is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Aug. 11, at the pavilion at the Mariposa Cemetery. This will be followed by a celebration of life at the Peters’ home. All of his friends are invited to attend both.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorial donations be made to SCOPE or a charity of the donor’s choice.
