Dolores Tuttle

Dolores Tuttle was born in Torrance on March 22, 1936, and passed peacefully on July 23. She moved to Mariposa after retiring in 1991.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Cathy Dahlem and her husband Steve Dahlem of Mariposa; and Carrie Tuttle and Mark DeGraw of Madera; her sister, Colleen Scott of Mariposa; brother and sisterin law, Roger and Carol Banfield of Torrance. Dolores is also survived by her niece, Jeanine Scott of Mariposa with whom she was very close; and her exhusband, Frank Tuttle of Mariposa who remained her good friend. She will be missed.

Dolores had a special connection and empathy for animals and the home she built in Mariposa became a sanctuary to many homeless dogs, cats, horses and wildlife. Dolores also helped the SPCA of Mariposa County establish “Sandy’s Spay/Neuter Program” to help Mariposa County residents alter their pets, which prevented the suffering of thousands of homeless dogs and cats.

The SPCA of Mariposa County, 5599 Highway 49 North, Mariposa, CA 95338, has established the Dolores Tuttle Spay/Neuter Fund, and the family requests that donations be made to this fund in lieu of flowers.
