Thursday Yosemite performance offered by Weston Noble Alumni Choir

The Weston Noble Alumni Choir offers its 40-voice sound this Thursday, July 26 in Yosemite Valley--the first stop of its 2012 California tour.

The free performance starts at 7 p.m. at the Valley Chapel in Yosemite Valley.

The performers are led by Weston Noble, recently retired from the widely-regarded music program at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Noble has led choral groups on recent tours in England, France, Austria and elsewhere. He joined the Iowa school's faculty in 1948, after serving in World War II. Noble retired in 2005, but has remained busy leading various touring groups and serving as guest conductors and in other capacities.

Thursday's performance features music by Schubert, Brahms, Gibbons and several contemporary composers.

Following the Yosemite tour date, the group travels to San Francisco and Southern California for additional performances.
