George W. Krause

George William Krause went home to be with the Lord on May 11. He was born July 9, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was 89.

His grandson, Paul Koutsoubos, said it best. “A true soldier of God went home today. I always felt like I was in the presence of greatness just being in the same room with my grandfather.”

George is survived by his 15 children, three biological and 12 adopted, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo. and became an ordained pastor. He pastored in Mariposa for eight to 10 years, then in Oakhurst for another four to five years.

In the early 1970s, he moved to Mexico and ran an orphanage for the next 20-plus years. George lived his life serving the Lord and giving all he had to everyone around him. His favorite saying when things got hard was “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.”

He will be truly missed by all his family and all who knew him. Heaven has gained a great man, and Earth a huge void.
