Madera County law enforcement is looking for a man who tried to abduct a child in Raymond this morning as he waited for the bus. The man was unsuccessful, but was reported to be headed toward Mariposa County.

Madera County Sheriff John Anderson issued an alert to be on the lookout for the man, who is driving a 1970s model, burgundy Mercedes Benz. He approached the boy at 7:55 a.m. at his bus stop near Road 613.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 45 to 55 years old. He reportedly told the boy to get into his car. The child refused and ran home.

The man's description was verified by an adult who was also in the area. The adult told deputies that the man and car were unfamiliar to the area.

The man was last seen near Road 613 and Road 800, headed in the direction of Mariposa County.

Anyone who has information can call the Madera County Sheriff's Office at (559) 675-7770.
