Highway 41 remains closed due to spill

An overturned big rig that spilled agricultural sulfate has closed Highway 41 near Fish Camp and the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park.

According to the National Park Service, the road will remain closed "until further notice." The California Highway Patrol, Mariposa County and Madera County officials have responded to the incident and are cleaning-up the spill. The road is closed at Tenaya Lodge.

The spill happened on Highway 41 near Big Creek. The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office has issued a Code Red message to residents of Fish Camp, Wawona and Yosemite West.

For the full story on the incident see the April 26 edition of the Mariposa Gazette.
