Let's be proactive. It is long over due that the TOT user fee be raised. A one percent raise in the fee would be a ONE MILLION DOLLAR windfall to the county. A drive to raise the fee now could be voted on in time to offset any negative impact. Wait what am I hearing... NO NEW TAXES from my fellow republicans. It is a user fee that is paid by the people that use the rooms. Only marginal local contributions to this fee. Just a thought.

Lodging is available at the Wawona Hotel. It is closed several months every year and would keep the TOT within the County. If I am not mistaken several of the "Gateway Communities" are within Mariposa County - the county will still the money just not from "the Park" proper.

The river needs to be

The river needs to be protected from the rude, vile and greedy RAFTING TRASH that invades our river canyon every year. They take from our community without so much as a 'thank you' or 'excuse us'. They capitalize on our natural resources as though it is their right. They are a hazard on the roads and river, and have no concern for other drivers or nature lovers. THEY NEED TO GO AWAY.
