Library hosts cowboy poetry on Saturday

Click on the video link to hear Wendy Brown-Barry recount the history of Mariposa's Fremont Adobe--today's Bett's Gold Coin sports bar.

Brown-Barry performed the piece at last October's cowboy poetry event in Coulterville. This Saturday, she is scheduled to read her work at Mariposa County Library in recognition of Cowboy Poetry Week.

Appearing with Brown-Barry will be veterinarian and poet Dr. Madison Seamans. The reading takes place at 10 a.m. at the library, located at the corner of Bullion and 10th streets. Also appearing will be Brown-Barry's dog Flash. The trio has been performing together for more than a decade.

In April of 2003, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution designating Cowboy Poetry Week.

The event is free.
