Ken Mari

Local businessman Ken Mari passed away on March 25, 2012 in Modesto.

He was born June 2, 1926, to Frisco and Rosetta Mari in Santa Monica. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lamerna (Mernie); daughters Kathy Miller (Gail), Julie Mari Henderson (Mike); and son Kenny and daughter-in-law Debbie Larson; brothers, Donald and Robert; and sisters, Rose and Dorothy.

Ken was a timber faller for over 35 years with Pickering Lumber in Sonora. He started Mari Construction in the 1960s, spending 19 years in Yosemite as the contractor for the concessionaire. The company built the Yosemite Bank building in Oakhurst and developed the Italian Acres subdivision. He built Bella Sienna townhouses in 2000. He was the former owner of the Lucky Logger liquor store.

Ken was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 6042 of Mariposa, charter member and past president of the Mariposa Rotary Club, former board member of the Merced Golf and Country Club, and member of the Italo American Lodge in Merced.

Golf, traveling, fishing, good food and wine were Ken’s passions.

At Ken’s request there will be no memorial services.
